Unknown menhirs in Bohemia and Moravia - Rudolf Zemek

This book deals with stones found in the open, mostly forest landscape, which differ from other stones in their shape. There are stones without a cross and without an inscription, which nevertheless give the impression that nature may not be behind their creation. To confirm this impression or feeling, a number of stones were cleaned and their embedment in the ground was partially or completely uncovered and made visible. In several cases, the remains of medieval vessels testifying to their worship were found under them, in other cases, wedging stones from other rocks, some of which could also be worked. The book tries to prove objectively that people erected rough-hewn stones until relatively recently and that there are many more man-made stones in the wild in Bohemia than the 27 or 33 menhirs, as claimed by geologists. Dozens of color photographs speak for themselves.
