Václav Cílek follows on from his previous successful titles dedicated primarily to landscapes and places - Inner and outer landscapes, Makom and Breathing with birds. The core of the book is essays dedicated to Prague and its genius loci, in other parts the author focuses both on the Czech and Moravian landscape (Bohemian Central Highlands, South Bohemia, Ostrava...) and on places that appealed to him during his trips abroad for geological research (Sudan, Greece, Turkey). Essays on "external landscapes" are complemented by texts of a more metaphysical nature - about the sacredness of Santini's buildings, about the space associated with Jan Palach, or fragments from the never-completed Chinese anthology. The book is accompanied by illustrations by artist Vladimír Kokolia and 80 photographs by the author.
